Plumbs is a family firm that has been based in Preston for over 60 years, and is one of the most significant employers in the area. We currently employ over 300 people, working in a variety of roles throughout the company, so whether your skills lie in Customer Services, Marketing, Manufacturing or Maintenance, you’re bound to find a place for you.

Factory

As well as our office based departments, we also operate our main factory from our Preston site. This is a hub of talented craftspeople, all working will skill, dedication and passion to help produce beautiful bespoke products for our customers. If you’re just leaving school or are newly interested in reupholstery, loose cover or curtain making, why not check out our apprenticeships?

For those with more expertise in their field, we’re always on the look out for talented craftspeople to join our various teams throughout the company. We know the enthusiasm, skills and experience it takes to become a fully qualified upholsterer, loose cover or curtain maker, and here at Plumbs, those are talents we want to help thrive.

There’s never a day the same in our factory, as every size, shape and style of furniture passes through our doors. Your skills will be pushed and developed, helping you advance your career as your go.

Our curtain department is equally busy, working with fabrics from some of the country’s most prestigious design houses. All our curtains are fully lined and mitred with blind hems, so you can be proud to produce high quality products with a beautiful finish.

  • Delivery Driver - Preston (England)

    We are currently Recruiting for the exciting opportunity of Delivery Driver, this is a full-time position and will be based in Preston.

    Delivery Driver Duties:

    • Assist with deliveries to customer locations.
    • Assist with the collection of furniture from customer locations.
    • Contacting customers to arrange collections and deliveries.
    • Provide cover for the Hub Team leader

    Delivery Driver Requirements:

    • Positive attitude with experience of dealing with challenge and change.
    • Ability to organise workload and forward plan.
    • Flexibility in terms of work responsibilities, including the occasional night away if required.
    • Team focused.
    • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
    • Clean Driving License with no more than 3 current points for any speeding offence. No endorsements for drug, alcohol or careless driving
    • Authorised to drive vans up to 3.5t
    • Physically fit, as the role requires the lifting and carrying of domestic furniture.

    Delivery Driver Benefits:

    • Full time position
    • £10.00 per hour + overtime as required
    • 42.5 Hours per week (Monday – Friday 8.00am to 5.00pm)

  • Trainee CAD Operator - Preston (England)

    We are currently looking for a Trainee CAD Operator to join our busy team!

    Hours of Work: 38 hours per week

    Trainee CAD Operator Duties:

    We are looking to train a selected individual to become a CAD (Computer Aided Design) operator, whose job it would be to “digitise” and input furniture template pieces onto a CAD system.

    • To begin with, you will learn the manufacturing process for handmade chair and sofa loose covers, alongside the benefits of technology and multi-site manufacturing.
    • Working as part of a small team you will learn quickly, before progressing to become a key part of this exciting and successful area of the Plumbs business, which has seen growth year on year.
    • You will liaise with several members of Plumbs staff throughout the course of each order to ensure the perfect creation of bespoke furniture covers that fit each furniture item like a glove.
    • You will be provided with a constant workflow so it will be essential for you to keep on top of your work.

    Trainee CAD Operator Requirements:

    • Precision and attention to detail.
    • Knowledge of IT, Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets and Mathematical Skills.
    • Good communicator and able to work within a team environment.
    • Punctuality and reliability.
    • Those who have any CAD experience or have worked in upholstery will be at an advantage. However, this role would equally be ideal for a College leaver or someone who is interested in a change of career, as full training will be provided.

You will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service whilst dealing with incoming enquiries from customers and other departments within the business.
